项目介绍：
This workshop centers on the changing interaction between gender and cinematic representation in Modern Chinese history. It moves from the golden era of Shanghai cinema in the 1930s to the mass-oriented revolutionary film production in the 1960s, and then from 1980s post-Mao film and cultural experiments to contemporary chick flicks and commercial blockbusters. How have transnational and national forces such as colonialism, socialism, culturalism and neoliberalism contributed to the various configurations of Chinese gender and cinema? Why and how have women been represented differently in Chinese cinema in different historical periods? How can transnational feminist theory and approach help us critically analyze gender and cinema in relation to both global and Chinese modernities? With an interdisciplinary coverage of history, culture, and feminist theory, the workshop aims to help students develop an integrated and sophisticated understanding of social and cultural issues in modern China and forge a critical, transnational, and theoretically informed approach to gender and cinema.
本项目聚焦于中国近代史上性别概念与电影艺术之间不断变化的关系，并且将视角拉宽至整个东亚文化圈，讨论女性主义的发展和未来。导师将带领学生进行近距离的电影分析，讨论从上海电影的黄金时代在30年代到60年代大众化革命后的电影制作,。跟随项目的深入，学生还将探讨80年代后毛泽东时代的电影艺术和文化思潮，对比分析当代女性电影和商业电影在整个历史潮流中的改变和进步。项目中学生还将学习殖民主义、社会主义、文化主义和新自由主义等跨国和国家力量是如何影响性别平等主义和相关电影艺术的发展。学生将比较分析在各个的历史时期，女性在中国本土制作电影中的不同表现的具体原因。导师将通过跨国女性主义理论帮助学生批判性地分析电影艺术中的性别主义，讨论全球现代化建设和中国现代化建设的关系。本项目涵盖历史、文化思潮和女性主义理论等众多跨学科领域，旨在帮助学生对现代中国的社会结构和文化认知等相关问题有一个完整且缜密的理解，并打造一个批判性的、国际化的、有理论依据的方法来看待女性主义和女性主义电影艺术。
