儒勒·凡尔纳的《海底两万里》里,有这样的句子出现:

-- Wait for daylight, and the scene will change."

-- We then decided that, as our only chance of safety was being picked up by the Abraham Lincoln's boats, we ought to manage so as to wait for them as long as possible.

-- Do me the favour to wait a little before forming an opinion upon the commander and crew of this boat."

-- "Well, friend Ned, we will wait patiently for the tide on the 9th instant; for it appears that the moon will have the goodness to put it off again."

-- I could easily have knocked down this native, who was within a short length; but I thought that it was better to wait for real hostile demonstrations.
